The city of Chaupal is situated at the latitude of 30.95 °North and the longitude of 77.58 °East with an average elevation of 2,550 meters above the sea level. Cities like Kalka, Nahan, Solan and Shimla lies close to Chaupal. Besides several Tehsils like Shillai to the South, Rajgarh to the West, Theog to the West and Jubbal Kotkhai to the North. Chaupal experiences cool and moderate climate. The months from April to June are of summer season during which the climate remains warmer with the temperature ranges from 20°C to 32°C. The summers here are followed by the monsoon season which starts from July and lasts up to September. The maximum precipitation falls here at 377 mm in the month of July. Moreover, the city of Chaupal witnesses heavy snow between December and March, which is the period of winter season. The average winter temperature in this city remains from 10°C to 18°C in which the month of December is the coldest.

As per the reports of Indian Census 2011, the total population of Chaupal Tehsil is 28,387 in which there are 14,655 males and 13,732 females. The average literacy rate of the city is around 89.46% in which male literacy is around 90.70% while female literacy rate is 87.89% according to the 2011 Indian Census.
